Lechmere Viaduct in foreground, with new NorthPoint Complex under construction in background. Cambridge, MA.
Taken from Mosignor O'Brien Highway . The Lechmere Viaduct, obviously built in 1910 and opened in 1912, carries the last remaining portion of the elevated MBTA Green Line, linking Boston to East Cambridge (the North Station El was torn down a few years ago and this viaduct was at one time in danger of the same fate).
The Lechmere area is currently a hot spot for luxury high-rise condominium development, as shown by the NorthPoint construction.
